Cafe chain Jamaica Blue is rolling out a new store design across Australia, unveiling its fresh look at the newly-opened arrivals hall location at Terminal 1 in Perth International Airport.

Matthew Williams, chief development officer at Jamaica Blue’s parent company Foodco, said “Store designs evolve with the brand. It was time for a vibrant new look and refresh.”

Tonia Barnes, Foodco’s design manager, said the new look clearly communicates and celebrates the coffee’s Jamaican provenance.

The new look also needs to work across Jamaica Blue’s different markets and formats. Sites vary from large dine-in spaces to kiosk sites and compact espresso bars.

The aim was to balance aesthetics with operational efficiency. The resulting enhanced customer journey is a seamless experience, even in high-traffic areas like airports and hospitals.

“The store layout is designed to maximise customer flow and provide clear communication on where to order, wait and pick up. There are dedicated zones for short, medium and long stays,” Barnes said.

Self-ordering kiosks and optional dual POS in select locations will provide a seamless takeaway service as an addition to personalised counter service.

The new fit-outs are also designed for longevity and to allow for the extended life span of a tenancy. This includes using recycled materials, fittings which can be disassembled, retreated or repainted in refurbishment sites.

Foodco will rollout the fresh Jamaica Blue design and tech across new and refurbished sites. It has a strong pipeline of openings for 2025.
