Celebrity Ink has appointed its chief financial officer Manuel Campos as CEO.

Campos’ immediate focus is on working closely with head office staff, franchisees, managers and artists across the Celebrity Ink network to prepare for Queensland’s studios expected reopening on Friday 12 June.

Tattoo studios will open across the country through June, barring New South Wales which has not yet included the service in its announcements of eased restrictions.

Based on the Gold Coast, Celebrity Ink has more than 20 studios across Australia, South East Asia and Europe. The studios offer a range of services including tattooing, cosmetic tattoos, piercings and laser tattoo removal.

“Celebrity Ink has grown from strength to strength since launching in 2013, and despite 2020 throwing the business a curveball, it has not diminished the brand’s position in the market,” Campos said.

“We had a strong start to the year and we’ll be looking to enhance our already robust strategy once we’re back in the studios and putting a focus on showcasing what Celebrity Ink has to offer our clients and potential franchisees,” he added.

“The tattoo sector is a $100 million industry in Australia and it allows brands like Celebrity Ink to create a business that can yield strong results.”

Campos brings experience across finance and business analysis from firms such as Grant Thornton and Affinity Education Group Ltd.

His appointment is part of a larger strategic vision for the continued growth of the brand which has included the recruitment of a new chief operating officer Matt Rann, and incumbent CEO Mitch Costello moving into a newly created role as chief revenue officer.

“I am looking forward to all of our studios opening their doors once again to clients and creating unforgettable work which has made us a destination for people wanting the highest quality tattoo in an extremely safe and hygienic environment,” Campos said.
