Specsavers has appointed a head of sustainability for Australia and New Zealand.

New appointee Cathy Rennie Matos was for five and a half years the head of Specsavers ANZ. In this role Matos oversaw the Specsavers Community program, the relaunch of the company’s Workplace Giving and Volunteering programs and the rollout of a glasses recycling program.

She also strengthened partnerships with The Fred Hollows Foundations, collaborating on delivering eye health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Australia and Pacific Islanders in Fiji.

Matos has more than 20 years of PR, marketing and CSR experience including seven years at The Good Guys and time at Blockbuster and ChoicesUK.

Specsavers is changing its operations to meet a net-zero carbon goal by 2050 and has a clear vision for its sustainability journey, focusing on positive impacts beyond sight and hearing.

Matos took on her role on 1 March 2023 and will oversee the delivery and embedding of Specsavers’ sustainability programs for ANZ.
