Motto Motto raised $20,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which will help bring happiness to more than 500 sick kids and their families.
The funds raised contribute to Starlight’s services such as Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express Rooms.
The Starlight programs operate at hospitals including Queensland Children’s Hospital, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and Monash Children’s Hospital.
There is now a Starlight Express Room in every major children’s hospital across Australia and more than 140 Captain Starlights nationwide.
Motto Motto fundraises $20K to help sick kids
Thanks to the 4000 restaurant customers who participated, the fundraising initiative exceeded its initial goal.
Customers bought a mini-Motto meal in January, with $5 from each purchase supporting Starlight.
Restaurant owner operator Linda Zhang said ‘We were so excited to be part of the Starlight campaign. Our customers were just as excited. They loved that they had a chance to help other families. And the kids adored the bento boxes!’’
Zhang and her business partners were the first franchisees in the Japanese QSR brand, signing up in late 2021.
Motto Motto’s chief financial officer Lisa Yao said “Our owner operators, guests and restaurant team were simply thrilled to be able to help families in need, and so many of our guests went above and beyond by giving more to Starlight by donating online while dining in our restaurants.
“We hope to continue this partnership in the future.”
Danica Bennett, Starlight’s state partnership manager for Queensland said “The work Starlight does to
bring happiness to sick kids and their families is only made possible through the generosity of
our corporate partners like Motto Motto, and the local community.”
Last year Starlight granted more than 1,303,775 positive Starlight experiences for children, teenagers and their families and 924,000 Fun with Captain Starlight moments. This year Starlight will grant its 13,000th Starlight Wish.
