Snooze has appointed GM of operations Damian Donohoe as its new managing director.

Donohoe will take on the role when incumbent Simon Beaty leaves the business on 11 March after more than 13 years with the retail chain.

Beaty’s retail background includes a 12-year tenure at Clark Rubber where he relaunched the business as a franchise model, and was a franchisee of two stores. Just prior to joining Snooze Beauty led franchised food chain Healthy Habits.

Snooze, alongside Freedom and Fantastic Furniture, is owned by Greenlit Brands which was formerly the Asia-Pacific division of Steinhoff International.

The group’s executive chair and CEO, Michael Ford said Beaty has made a significant contribution to the business.

“Simon has navigated Snooze’s complex hybrid business model of franchise and corporate stores through some challenging periods, not least through the Covid pandemic. Snooze sales have almost doubled over Simon’s 14 year tenure and he leaves the business in great shape with record sales and profits achieved last year.”

Ford said the search for his replacement had been wide reaching.

“I am equally pleased that following an internal and external search, we are in a position to promote from within the Greenlit Brands talent pool with the appointment of Damian Donohoe as Snooze’s new managing director. Damian is an accomplished retail executive who I am sure will help take Snooze to the next stage of its development. I look forward to working closely with him in his new role.”

Donohoe has been with Snooze for almost five years; before that he was the GM and Australian director for US-based mattress firm Kingsdown.
