Sandwich chain Subway has introduced the drive-thru restaurant format to Western Australia.

Matt Brownhill, director of franchise performance for Subway in WA said the development is a welcome advance in the state.

“The drive-thru function was the missing piece in our mission to make ordering Subway as convenient as possible for our guests,” he said.

Other local franchisees are now considering the model, he said.

The new restaurant at Falcon, the 34th Australian drive-thru for Subway, also offers a click and collect service.

It had operated as a standalone traditional restaurant for more than a decade. Franchisee Luke Anderson has owned the business for three years.

“Being in front of the Miami Plaza Shopping Centre allows shoppers and locals to stop in more easily and more regularly,” he said.

“Since launching last Wednesday, we’ve seen an increase in both traffic and sales,” he added.
